Congratulations to Ester Small
Greensville County High School's Teacher of the Year
Ester Small has devoted 32 years to educating children, most of those years in Greensville County. During her career, she worked at Belfield Elementary and E. W. Wyatt Middle School, but the last 21 years have been spent working with Special Education Students at Greensville County High School. She has served as the Varsity Volleyball and Assistant Basketball coach at the high school, Special Education Department Chair, a member of the leadership team, and a class sponsor.
Ms. Small stated that she knew from a young age that she wanted to be a teacher. She believes, “As an educator, it is my sole responsibility to educate all children to the best of my ability. As a Special Education Teacher, my primary focus is to find creative methods to enhance and support a diverse group of learners for them to excel and achieve high academic success. It is my duty and responsibility to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of my students; however, my teaching is one that puts the learning in the hands of my students.”
